A 30-year-old nurse in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed apprehensions over getting an early vaccination with any vaccine against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Sa ngayon, ayaw ko pa. Siguro after a year ‘pag sure na walang side effect or adverse reaction,'' disclosed Jerome Y. Fornoles, a dialysis nurse at the Al Mouwasat Hospital who just plans to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), hand washing, taking of vitamins, and avoiding stress to protect himself amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“[Kaso] mandatory daw eh. Di kami makakalabas ng Saudi ‘pag di kami nagpa-vaccine,” he added in an interview via Messenger on January 9.

Fornoles and his co-workers are going to be vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech, which was granted with emergency validation by the World Health Organization (WHO) so that countries worldwide can quickly approve its import and distribution.

Allergic reactions were reportedly "rare" after taking it based on the studies of the researchers from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Food and Drug Administration.

“Di pa naman ako nagpapa-register. Di ko pa kasi nababasa talaga yung vaccine at di pa naman alam kung gaano ka-effective iyon,” Fornoles said.  —LBG, GMA News
