DFA: Filipinos abroad who succumbed to COVID-19 now at 945


The number of Filipinos abroad who succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 945 on Saturday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported one more fatality.

According to the DFA, 19 more tested positive for the illness, bringing the total to 13,779, while total recoveries climbed to 8,817 with 23 recoveries.

Meanwhile, there were 4,017 patients still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 2,757 cases in the Asia and the Pacific Region with 769 patients still undergoing treatment. A total of 1,967 patients in the region have recovered while 21 have died.

In the Middle East or Africa, a total of 7,847 Filipinos tested positive for the illness with 2,489 patients still undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities were recorded at 4,752 and 605, respectively.

Europe, meanwhile, reported 2,361 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 678 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 1,565 Filipinos recovered while 118 have succumbed to the illness.

Meanwhile, a total of 814 cases have been recorded in the Americas with 81 undergoing treatment, 533 recoveries, and 200 fatalities. — DVM, GMA News
