29 more Pinoys abroad contract COVID-19 —DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reported 29 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total tally to 13,857.

According to the DFA, recoveries also increased to 8,845 after 17 more Filipinos overseas defeated the respiratory illness.

The death toll, meanwhile, remained at 945.

The Middle East/Africa still had the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 7,881 including 4,754 recoveries and 606 deaths.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 2,759 cases with 1,967 recoveries and 21 fatalities.

In Europe, a total of 2,403 cases have been recorded, 118 of whom have died, while 1,542 have recovered.

Moreover, in the Americas, 814 Filipinos have been infected with the viral disease, of whom 536 have recovered and 200 have died. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
