DFA: 9 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19

Nine more Filipinos abroad tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 14,420, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Saturday.

The DFA also announced that total recoveries climbed to 9,066 with three new ones while the death toll remained at 954.

At present, there are 4,400 patients still undergoing treatment.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities and recoveries saw a slight decrease to 6.62 percent and 62.87 percent, respectively,” the DFA said.

“Meanwhile, those under treatment increased to 30.51 percent,” it added.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 2,797 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 799 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities remained at 1,977 and 21, respectively.

A total of 8,073 Filipinos have tested positive for the illness in the Middle East or Africa. Among these, 2,709 are still undergoing treatment while 4,754 have recovered and 610 have died.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,709 cases were recorded in Europe with 787 patients undergoing treatment. The region reported 1,799 recoveries and 123 fatalities.

The Americas also reported 841 cases with 105 patients undergoing treatment. The number of recovered individuals remained at 536 while the death toll remained at 200 in the region. — DVM, GMA News
