2 more Pinoys abroad get COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday logged two new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, raising the total tally to 14,556.

Latest data from the DFA showed that the death toll from the respiratory illness also climbed to 977 with 23 new deaths.

Meanwhile, recoveries remained at 9,155.

So far, 4,424 Filipinos abroad are still undergoing treatment.

The Middle East/Africa still had the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 8,103 including 4,755 recoveries and 633 deaths.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 2,865 cases with 2,041 recoveries and 21 fatalities.

In Europe, a total of 2,736 cases have been recorded. 123 of whom have died, while 1,810 have recovered.

Moreover, in the Americas, 852 Filipinos have been infected with the viral disease. 549 of whom have recovered, while 200 have died.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, remains fully committed to monitoring and assisting our nationals abroad amid the pandemic.,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
