3 more Filipinos abroad succumb to COVID-19 –DFA


Three more Filipinos abroad succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) bringing the total to 1,012, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Saturday.

The DFA also announced that the total number of cases climbed to 14,791 after four more tested positive for the illness.

Meanwhile, seven new recoveries brought the total to 9,301.

At present, there are 4,478 active cases among Filipinos abroad.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities and recoveries saw a slight increase to 6.84 percent and 62.88 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, those under treatment decreased to 30.28 percent,” the DFA said.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 2,871 cases in the Asia and the Pacific Region with 800 still undergoing treatment. A total of 2,050 patients in the region have recovered and 21 have died.

In the Middle East or Africa, 8,131 Filipino nationals have tested positive for the illness with 2,715 undergoing treatment, 4,755 recoveries, and 661 fatalities.

Europe reported 2,926 cases with 887 patients undergoing treatment. The region reported that 1,914 had recovered and 125 had died.

Meanwhile, a total of 863 cases were reported in the Americas with 76 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 582 and 205, respectively. — DVM, GMA News
