10 more Pinoys abroad get COVID-19; total now at 14,801


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Sunday recorded 10 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 14,801.

According to the DFA, the death toll also increased to 1,014 with two new fatalities, while total recoveries remained at 9,301.

The Middle East/Africa still had the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 8,131, including 4,755 recoveries and 662 deaths.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 2,872 cases with 2,050 recoveries and 21 fatalities.

In Europe, a total of 2,926 cases have been recorded, 125 of whom have died, while 1,914 have recovered.

Moreover, in the Americas, 872 Filipinos have been infected with the respiratory illness. 582 of whom have recovered, while 206 have died.

“The DFA remains fully committed to monitoring the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
