DFA: 11 more Filipinos overseas infected with COVID-19


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday logged 11 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total tally to 14,812.

The DFA said total recoveries also rose to 9,309 after eight additional Filipinos recovered from the illness, while the death toll remained at 1,014.

To date, the Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 8,131 with 662 deaths and 4,755 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 2,874 infections including 21 fatalities and 2,050 recoveries.

In Europe, a total of 2,935 Filipinos were infected with the respiratory illness. Of the number, 125 have died while 1,922 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 872 cases with 206 fatalities and 582 recoveries.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad amidst the pandemic,” the department said.—AOL, GMA News
