DFA: 59 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19


The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 14,871 on Tuesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported 59 new infections.

According to the DFA, 57 more have also recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 9,366, while one new fatality brought the death toll to 1,015.

There are currently 4,490 Filipinos abroad still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 2,919 cases in Asia and the Pacific Region with 799 patients still undergoing treatment. A total of 2,099 have recovered and 21 have died.

In the Middle East or Africa, a total of 8,131 patients have tested positive for the illness, of which 2,713 are still undergoing treatment, 4,755 have recovered, and 663 have died.

Europe has also reported 2,949 cases with 894 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 1,930 and 125,respectively.

Meanwhile, a total of 872 cases were recorded in the Americas with 84 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 582 patients in the region have recovered and 206 have succumbed to the illness. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
