1 more Pinoy abroad sick with COVID-19 —DFA


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Sunday recorded one new case of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 14,897.

The DFA said no new fatalities and recoveries were reported. Total recoveries remained at 9,379, while the death toll was 1,018.

The Middle East/Africa still had the highest number of COVID-19-positive Filipinos at 8,131, including 4,755 recoveries and 663 deaths.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 2,925 cases with 2,099 recoveries and 21 fatalities.

In Europe, a total of 2,967 cases have been recorded. 127 of whom have died, while 1,943 have recovered.

Moreover, in the Americas, 874 Filipinos have been infected with the viral disease. 582 of whom have recovered, while 207 have died.

“The DFA remains fully committed to monitoring the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
