17 more Filipinos overseas infected with COVID-19; total now at 14,914


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday logged 17 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, raising the total tally to 14,914.

The DFA said total recoveries also rose to 9,400 after 21 additional Filipinos recovered from the illness, while the death toll remained at 1,018.

The Middle East/Africa remained the region with the most confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 8,131 with 663 deaths and 4,755 recoveries.

Europe followed with 2,983 infections, including 127 fatalities and 1,964 recoveries.

In the Asia Pacific Region, a total of 2,926 Filipinos were infected with the respiratory illness. Of the number, 21 have died, while 2,099 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 874 cases with 207 fatalities and 582 recoveries.

“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad amidst the pandemic,” the department said. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
