DFA: 103 more Filipinos overseas get COVID-19; total now at 15,023


The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reported 109 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total tally to 15,023.

The DFA said total recoveries climbed to 9,455 after 55 more Filipinos defeated the viral disease.

The death toll also increased to 1,021 with three new fatalities.

So far, there are 4,547 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 8,131 with 664 deaths and 4,755 recoveries.

Europe followed with 3,087 infections including 128 fatalities and 2,015 recoveries.

In the Asia Pacific Region, a total of 2,930 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of the number, 21 have died, while 2,103 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 875 cases with 208 fatalities and 582 recoveries. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
