DFA: 11 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19; total now at 15,892

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reported 11 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos overseas, bringing the total tally to 15,892.

According to the DFA, total recoveries also increased to 9,565 after two more Filipinos recovered from the viral disease, while the death toll remained at 1,043.

So far, there are 5,284 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

The Middle East/Africa remained the region with the most confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 8,881 with 671 deaths and 4,756 recoveries.

Europe followed with 3,152 infections including 128 fatalities and 2,103 recoveries.

In the Asia Pacific Region, a total of 2,969 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of the number, 21 have died, while 2,116 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, have recorded 890 cases with 223 fatalities and 590 recoveries. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
