DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 16,067

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday announced that 27 more Filipinos abroad have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 16,067.

According to the DFA, 16 more patients have also recovered from the illness, bringing the total to 9,738, while the death toll remained at 1,047.

At present, there are 5,282 patients undergoing treatment.

Based on data from the DFA, there are a total of 3,013 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 858 patients undergoing treatment. The region has reported 2,134 recoveries and 21 fatalities.

The Middle East or Africa has also reported 8,884 cases with 3,447 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 4,764 patients in the region have recovered while 673 have died.

Meanwhile, a total of 3,269 Filipinos have tested positive for COVID-19 in Europe with 889 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 2,250 and 130, respectively.

In the Americas, a total of 901 cases were recorded, of which 88 are still undergoing treatment, 590 have recovered, and 223 have succumbed to the illness. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
