DFA: 483 more Pinoys overseas got infected with COVID-19; total now over 17k

A total of 483 additional Filipinos overseas have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), raising the total tally to 17,064, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.

The DFA said total recoveries rose to 10,077 after seven more Filipinos defeated the viral disease.

The death toll also increased to 1,066 with seven new fatalities.

So far, there are 5,921 active cases undergoing treatment.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 9,529 with 685 deaths and 4,963 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 3,331 infections including 24 fatalities and 2,250 recoveries.

In Europe, a total of 3,289 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of the number, 130 have died, while 2,261 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 915 cases with 227 fatalities and 603 recoveries. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/RSJ, GMA News
