DFA: 5 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19; total now 18,223

The total number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for COVID-19 rose to 18,223 with five new infections, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday.

Two new fatalities were recorded, bringing the total death toll to 1,124, while the number of recoveries remained at 11,181, the DFA said.

Meanwhile, there are 5,918 patients still undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 3,449 cases in Asia and the Pacific region, with 1,079 patients still undergoing treatment. The region has reported 2,394 recoveries and 26 fatalities.

The Middle East and Africa, meanwhile, reported 10,436 cases with 3,825 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 5,879 patients have recovered while 732 have died.

A total of 3,341 Filipinos have also tested positive for COVID-19 in Europe. Of this, 917 are still undergoing treatment, 2,294 have recovered, and 130 have died.

In the Americas, a total of 947 cases were reported with 97 still undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 614 and 236, respectively. --Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA News
