DFA: 22 more Pinoys abroad infected with COVID-19

Twenty-two more Filipinos overseas have been infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total tally to 18,479, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.

The DFA said total recoveries rose to 11,306 after 14 more Filipinos defeated the respiratory illness.

The death toll, meanwhile, remained at 1,147.

So far, there are 6,026 active cases undergoing treatment.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 10,453 with 747 deaths and 5,902 recoveries.

The Asia Pacific Region followed with 3,659 infections including 29 fatalities and 2,462 recoveries.

In Europe, a total of 3,386 Filipinos were infected with the virus, of which 130 have died, while 2,317 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 981 cases with 241 fatalities and 625 recoveries. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/RSJ, GMA News
