PAL: Saudi-bound OFWs can board flights after deployment suspension lifted

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is now allowing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) bound for Saudi Arabia to board their flights after the government lifted the temporary suspension of OFW deployments to the Middle Eastern country.

“Effective today, May 29, 2021, Philippine Airlines is pleased to accept Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) on its flights to Saudi Arabia (Dammam, Riyadh),” PAL said.

“This follows the decision of the Department of Labor and Employment lifting the temporary suspension of deployment of overseas Filipino workers to Saudi Arabia,” it said.

after it received official communication from the Saudi government that foreign employers and agencies will shoulder the costs of institutional quarantine and other COVID-19 protocols upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.

“The Philippine government has received official communication from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that foreign employers and agencies will assume the costs of quarantine protocols upon arrival in KSA,” PAL said.

“OFWs who were unable to board their flights to Dammam and Riyadh due to the earlier prohibition may rebook their flights with rebooking service fees waived,” it said,

On Friday, hundreds of OFWs bound for Saudi Arabia were stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport as they were not allowed to board their flights.  — DVM, GMA News
