DFA waiting for report on Filipina missing in Florida condo collapse

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday said it is still waiting for an official report from the Philippine Embassy in Washington on the Filipina who went missing after a building collapsed in Florida last week.

“We are waiting for a report from our Embassy in Washington about this tragic incident,” DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Menez told GMA News Online.

 when the 12-storey Champlain Towers South condo building in Surfside, Florida collapsed on June 24. They lived on the 10th floor.

Six days on, the death toll has risen to 10, with 151 people still unaccounted for.

According to a report by Agence France-Presse, officials have stressed that there may yet be survivors buried in the rubble. Miami-Dade County mayor Daniella Levine Cava said teams had cut a "deep trench" through the pile of twisted debris to assist in the search. — BM, GMA News
