36 more Pinoys abroad get COVID-19, total now 21,767

Thirty-six more Filipinos abroad tested positive for COVID-19 as of Monday, driving up the total number of cases to 21,767, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

A week ago, the total tally of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad was 21,731. 

The DFA said 45 new recoveries were reported as of August 16. The number of those recovered or discharged thus reached 12,603.

Meanwhile, 7,832 are still undergoing treatment.

Seven deaths were reported, making the death toll now at 1,332 from the previous week’s 1,325.

The COVID-19 cases were in 101 countries and territories, the DFA said.

“The DFA continues to monitor the situation of overseas Filipinos and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare,” the department said. —KG, GMA News
