Oman lifting of ban on OFWs effective September 1 —DOLE

The government of Oman is lifting its ban on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) effective Wednesday, September 1, the Department of Labor and Employment said.

According to a report by Sam Nielsen on Super Radyo DZBB, DOLE information and publication service head Rolly Francia said in a virtual forum that Secretary Silvestre Bello III received a message from the Oman government that it is lifting the ban on OFWs and tourists.

Francia said the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is preparing for the deployment of OFWs in Oman, in accordance with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) rules.

Meanwhile, the Philippine government is set to make an announcement on whether it will lift its ban on those coming from Oman by September 5.

Earlier, the Philippines agreed to lift the deployment ban of workers to Oman, in exchange for the country easing entry restrictions for Filipino travelers. —Jamil Santos/LBG, GMA News
