Registered Filipino voters in the Cayman Islands are scheduled to hold their Eleksyon 2022 overseas voting on April 23 to 27, the Philippine Embassy in the United States announced on Thursday.

In an advisory, the Embassy said its consular outreach team will conduct the mobile voting activity in the Cayman Islands later in the month, pursuant to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution Number 10751 in line with the overseas voting.

“Registered voters may collect their ballots at the outreach venue, Holiday Inn, 278 Crighton Drive Grand Cayman, KY1-1206, Cayman Islands, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM,” the Embassy said.

They added that Filipino voters may personally submit their sealed accomplished ballots at the outreach venue until 6 p.m. on April 27, or send them by mail to the Embassy of the Philippines in Washington D.C.

There are 224 overseas Filipino voters in the Cayman Islands for the upcoming elections—223 of which are land-based, while one is a seafarer, according to the Comelec.

Further, Consul General Elmer Cato said in a tweet on Thursday that the Philippine Consulate General in New York has finished the final testing and sealing of vote counting machines (VCMs) for Eleksyon 2022 after nine hours.

Several members of the Filipino-American community and militant groups earlier expressed outrage at the delay of the overseas absentee voting (OAV) after thousands of them from the northeast part of the United States were not able to vote on Sunday, April 10, the first day of the Eleksyon 2022 OAV.

This was due to the delay in the shipment of VCMs, official ballots, and election paraphernalia to be used by the Philippine Consulate General in New York for the OAV.
