Guitar duo from Cebu bags gold medal in California competition

A Filipino guitar duo has brought honor to the country by winning in a category in a recently held competition in the United States, according to a Balitanghali report on Sunday.

The Cebu-based M Squared bagged the gold medal in the Senior Instrumentalists category in the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA).

The report said M Squared is excited to go home to celebrate their victory.

A Filipino-American, James Calacsan, meanwhile, won in the Senior Vocalist category of the same competition.

The competition was held from July 6 to 15, 2018 in Long Beach, California.

According to its website, WCOPA is the "one-and-only, Olympic-style international meet for aspiring performers and entertainers. It is held annually in the Hollywood area, the entertainment capital of the world. —KBK, GMA News
