The country’s pioneer environment and wildlife program is celebrating its fourth anniversary! Since its launch in November 2007, Born to be Wild has been committed to spreading environmental awareness by showcasing the country’s biodiversity and tackling important conservation issues.
And as part of the show’s anniversary tradition, each year, Born to be Wild’s hosts participate in different projects aimed at helping nature and wildlife. This year, the four hosts who championed the environment for the last four years have one campaign slogan: “Fight 4 the Wild!” Kiko Rustia encourages volunteers to take part in a tree planting event with Haribon Foundation. Haribon aims to plant a million a trees by 2020 to help reforest the Philippines. Meanwhile, Doc Nielsen Donato organizes a drive to help the wildlife hospital at the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau. Our newest resident vet also volunteers for a medical mission at the rescue center, where different wildlife are being treated in intensive care units or ICUs. Born to be Wild’s original tandem – Romi Garduce and Doc Ferds Recio – also join the celebration and pledge to do their own share. Romi Garduce is off to Anilao to plant artificial reefs and lead a coastal clean-up with the locals. And even from overseas, Doc Ferds Recio pitches in by exhibiting some of his wildlife photos for the benefit of the Bantay Dagat of Mabini, Batangas. Four years. Four hosts. Four advocacies. One BORN TO BE WILD. Catch the first of a two-part anniversary special this Wednesday after Saksi!
