English version

Crocodiles have been around for more than two hundred million years. And yet, because of man's actions, there is a rare kind of crocodile which is in danger of being extinct.

The Crocodylus mindorensis can only be found in the Philippines -- a particular breed of crocodile which is smaller, elusive, and often harmless. For these reasons, they are often killed or hunted alive only to be sold to collectors of exotic animals. Now, only about a hundred are left of the Crocodylus mindorensis in the wild.

To increase their numbers, the Philippines sent crocodiles to different countries in Europe in 2006. The project aims to breed the Crocodylus mindorensis and in 2015, two were successfully hatched in Germany -- Dodong and Hulky.

However, the project would be meaningless if these crocodiles will not be able to go back to their natural habitat. Now that they are six years old, Dodong and Hulky will begin their journey back home.
