Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits Davao Occidental


A magnitude 6.1 earthquake rocked Davao Occidental on Sunday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The earthquake occurred at 10:02 a.m. 

PHIVOLCS located the epicenter at 05.62°N, 126.73°E - 126 km S 77° E of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

The tectonic earthquake had a depth of focus of 14 kilometers.

 

 

The quake was felt at Intensity III in Kidapawan City and Davao City.

PHIVOLCS said no damage and no aftershocks are expected.

Meanwhile, the Davao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is checking if anyone was hurt or any damage occurred, according to a report by Rodel Natad of RGMA Davao on Dobol B sa News TV aired on GMA News TV. —KG, GMA News
