Magnitude 4.9 earthquake hits Davao Oriental

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit Davao Oriental on Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The earthquake, which PHIVOLCS earlier put at magnitude 5.0, occurred at 10:10 a.m.

Its epicenter was at 05.38°N, 127.12°E - 182 km S 39° E of the municipality of Governor Generoso.

The tectonic earthquake had a depth of focus of 79 km.

PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected but aftershocks may occur.
