Magnitude 6.1 earthquake recorded off Sarangani, Davao Occidental

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred on Sunday morning in the waters off Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental.

The quake was recorded at 7:47 a.m., according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Its epicenter was located at 04.06°N, 128.15°E - 336 km S 62° east of Sarangani Island in Davao Occidental.

PHIVOLCS said the quake had a depth of 173 km and was tectonic in origin.

Intensity II was felt in Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental, and in Cateel, Davao Oriental.

No damage is expected but aftershocks may occur, the agency said. —KG, GMA News
