No tsunami threat to Philippines after Papua New Guinea quake —PHIVOLCS


The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology on Sunday said there is no tsunami threat to the country after an earthquake hit Papua New Guinea. 

A magnitude 7.6 earthquake hit eastern Papua New Guinea on Sunday morning, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The USGS issued a tsunami warning but subsequently said the threat has already passed.

Some buildings were damaged near the coastal town of Madang and further inland in Papua New Guinea, according to a report by Agence France-Presse. —KG, GMA News
