Google’s updated Chrome browser now syncs open tabs too
First, it was bookmarks. Now, the latest stable version of Google’s Chrome browser remembers what tabs you kept open in your office computer, and can reopen them in your home computer. Google software engineer Raz Mathias said signed in users can access a new feature that syncs what is essentially the entire Chrome browser across various devices. “When you’re signed in to Chrome, your open tabs are synced across all your devices, so you can quickly access them from the ‘Other devices’ menu on the New Tab page. If you’ve got Chrome for Android Beta, you can open the same recipe tab right on your phone when you run out to the store for more ingredients,” Mathias said in a blog post. Mathias said the back and forward buttons will even work, “so you can pick up browsing right where you left off.” Tabs are the latest components of Chrome to be synced. Earlier versions of the browser could sync apps, extensions, history, themes, and other settings. “That way, when you sign in to Chrome, you can have your personal Chrome experience on all your devices. Just go to the Chrome menu and select ‘Sign in to Chrome,’” Mathias said. Before you rush to try out the new feature though, Mathias said that users may have to be patient, as the tab sync feature will still be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks. - AMD, GMA News
