Bad news for gamers on Google+: Some game developers have declared "Game Over" on some of their titles on the social network, with a lack of active users being blamed for the move.

One developer, PopCap Games, has pulled Bejeweled Blitz from Google+ as of June 18, thanking its players and apologizing for the "disappointing news."

"As of June 18, 2012, Bejeweled Blitz on Google+ will be taken offline. We thank all our loyal players and apologize for the disappointing news," PopCap said.

It also disabled the option to purchase coins or additional spins, with coins earned or purchased in Bejeweled Blitz on Google+ non-transferable to others version of Bejeweled Blitz or any other game on Google+.

A separate article on tech site Mashable said Google+ had introduced popular games to keep its members active but apparently never really caught fire.

Other than Bejeweled Blitz, Mashable said social game developer Wooga is also pulling Diamond Dash and Bubble Island from Google+ on July 1.

Wooga had removed Monster World in May, it added.

Mashable said Wooga company decided to remove the titles from the social network because they “have a much larger following on Facebook, and they are active users.”

"As of now the social network still has more than 40 games in its roster. But if more developers remove their games from the platform, Google will be forced to think of something bigger than a redesign to entice its existing users to be more active," Mashable said. — TJD, GMA News
