This may help settle the debate on which is the better team: Michael Jordan, Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Larry Bird's 1992 Dream Team, or Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant's Team USA 2012.

In October, NBA 2K13 will allow basketball fans to pit the original Dream Team against the most recent Olympic gold medalists in men's basketball.

"You’ve asked for it and now you’re getting it – NBA 2K13 is proud to bring you both the legendary 1992 Dream Team and the 2012 USA Men’s National Team! Who would win?" game developer 2K Sports said on its Facebook page.
An article on Yahoo! Sports said the "rivalry" between the 1992 Dream Team and the 2012 team may have arisen when Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was asked how the 2012 team would do against its predecessor.

Bryant's answer that his team would win due to superior speed and depth prompted members of the 1992 squad, including outspoken Charles Barkley, to challenge Bryant's view.

"Hoops fans all over the world, including President Barack Obama, shared their opinions on the topic, with most falling on the side of the '92 squad, which smashed its opponents by an average margin of 43.8 points per game en route to gold in Barcelona, compared to the crummy lil' 32-point average posted by 20-Doz during their 8-0 run in London," Yahoo! Sports said.

The upcoming NBA 2K13 will feature Blake Griffin (LA Clippers), Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls) on its cover and is being "executive produced" by Brooklyn Nets minority owner and hip-hop legend Jay-Z.

Sadly, however, the Dream Team in the game will not be quite complete - Scottie Pippen, Jordan's famous partner in the Bulls championship teams, won't be there.

He couldn't come to terms with the game's makers, Yahoo! Sports quoted multiple reports as saying.

"That's a bummer, both because it'd be nice to have the whole gang together and because Pippen was an integral on-court part of the Dream Team — remember, he led the team in assists, trailed only Jordan in steals and gave many European players fits on the defensive end in Barcelona," it said. — ELR, GMA News
