Nintendo Wii Mini to debut in Canada

First, the good news: Nintendo is coming out with a cheaper version of its Wii game console that will break the $100 barrier.

Now, the bad news, at least for now: The new console will initially be exclusive to Canada.

As of Thursday night (Manila time), Nintendo featured the red Wii mini on its website, offering "Big Fun" at a "mini price."

It also indicated the Wii mini "does not connect to the Internet and does not support online features in games, although it is compatible with Wii software including 1,300 games and accessories.

Nintendo also made clear the Wii mini console is not compatible with Nintendo GameCube Game Discs or accessories.

An article on GiantBomb.com said the mini "does represent a new, super cheap way to pick up a Nintendo console if the Wii U, which starts at $300, is too expensive."

It said the Wii mini includes a MotionPlus remote and nunchuck, A/V connector, power adaptor, and sensor bar.

The Wii Mini launches in Canada on December 7, it added. — TJD, GMA News
