Lenovo launches new smartphones

Lenovo on Wednesday unveiled new smartphones tailored for various customer segments, including entry-level gadgets for newbies to advanced ones for professionals.
 
The lineup includes five new models that will be available in China and select global markets starting January, Lenovo said.
 
“For smartphone users, one size does not fit all ... We’ve learned from our customers, and we know they have many different, unique reasons for selecting Lenovo smartphones. Our new portfolio, features devices designed to please and amaze a wide range of customers globally, with a phone for every user,” said Liu Jun, president MIDH and senior vice president Lenovo Group.
 
Lenovo said its products are tailored for distinct user groups, with "leading specifications in their class" and competitive pricing.
 
It said the flagship phones include two new S Series smartphones with multimedia and entertainment features, and aimed at young urban professionals.
 
The S Series phones focus on design and optimization for apps favored by the young.
 
On the other hand, a new P Series model boasts of long battery life, special security and anti-virus features.
 
At the entry-level end are two new A Series models, featuring advanced smartphone functions for new users and the budget-conscious.
 
All new models feature dual-SIM slots, larger, higher resolution displays and enhanced specifications.
 
New products
 
S890: Optimized for entertainment and for young consumers, it features a 5-inch 960x540 qHD screen, an 8-megapixel auto-flash camera that can take photos in low light and allows photo in video and complex photo-editing. It is also slim at 9.3mm and lightweight at 176g.
 
S720: Multimedia workhorse for young urbanites that features built-in Dolby Digital Plus and Super Camera software, powered by a dual-core MTK CPU for enhanced performance and a 2000mAh battery for longer life. It has a 4.5-inch 960x540 IPS display, an 8MP front camera and a 1MP rear camera, in a 9.9mm package.
 
P770: Professional business device with a long-life 3500mAh battery that can deliver up to 30 hours talk time between charges. It also has a USB on-the-go feature that allows it to be a charger for other devices, and can share files and data and secure them with native anti-virus software.
 
A800: entry-level smartphone featuring a dual-core, 1.2GHz CPU, a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, and a 2000mAh battery.
 
A690: the first entry-level phone to break the 1GHz barrier, offering speed and responsiveness. It has a 4.0-inch 800x480 WVGA screen.
