Modders building modified Warcraft game called 'Warcraft: A New Dawn'
Fans of Warcraft know that the days of real-time strategy warfare have long since past ever since the franchise made the jump to Massive Multiplayer and became the immensely popular MMORPG series “World of Warcraft”. Since then, Blizzard’s popular high fantasy series has encased itself in a world where online play is required to experience the world of Azeroth, with several expansions being released on occasion to continue the myths and tales associated with the story. But is seem a couple of gamers haven’t forgotten Warcraft’s roots. According to a news article on gaming news website ign.com, a team of modders were inspired to build an unofficial sequel to “Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne” entitled “Warcraft: A New Dawn”. The sequel, still on the beta-testing stages, utilizes the contemporary Starcraft II engine and seeks to establish the real-time strategy gameplay elements of the series once more. Like the games of old, “A New Dawn” pits the tried and true rival factions of the Orcish Horde and Human Alliance against one another, in a battle that can only see one victor left standing. The developers have released a demonstration of the game showing just what gamers can expect from the build. Despite using the engine of a fellow Blizzard game, the demo of “A New Dawn” clearly shows that its more Warcraft than Starcraft. This should reassure fans wondering if it will still retain the same feel as the older games. If things are successful, the modders have promised that a full campaign mode will be created, further immersing gamers once more into the world of Warcraft ala Warcraft III. Additionally, the creators have an official website of the mod, detailing information on the game as well as tips and guidelines necessary to know about playing the game. Other social media links such as Facebook, Twitter, and a You Tube page, are also available for players who wish to gain insight and updates on the game. — DVM, GMA News
