Some 12 years after it started on computers running Microsoft's Windows 98, the popular game "Bejeweled" is finally making its way to the latest version of Windows.
A report on tech site Mashable said the latest edition, dubbed "Bejeweled Live," is designed specifically for the touch-friendly Windows 8.
"We’re confident that the beautiful new design and solid foundation of Windows 8 will provide a fantastic experience with Bejeweled Live," it quoted Heather Hazen, executive producer for the "Bejeweled" franchise, as saying.
She pointed out the "Bejeweled" game "began life on Windows 98 way back in 2001 and has enjoyed tremendous global success on more than 20 different platforms since then.”
Mashable said "Bejeweled Live" for Windows 8 was made available starting March 29 from the Windows Store for $4.99.
It added "Bejeweled Live" is modeled after "Bejeweled 3" which is available on other platforms.
The new game has three game modes: Classic, Diamond Mine, and Butterflies.
While Classic is the original version of the game, the Butterflies mode has some gems turn into colored butterflies.
Diamond Mine is set a mine that a player needs to dig himself or herself out of.
"Stats and Leaderboards help you keep up with not only your own top scores, but also how those scores compare with your friends'," Mashable said. — TJD, GMA News
