Google honors mothers with playful interactive doodle

Visitors to Google's website (www.google.com) were greeted with an animated Google logo, with a button inviting them to start playing the doodle.

 

Clicking on the play button starts an interactive session where one prepares a gift for his or her mother.

 

"The search giant has gone to great lengths in posting an elaborate doodle designed no doubt to remind you to call or visit your mother this Mother's Day, no matter where you are," said NDTV Gadgets.

 

As in the past, clicking on the search icon at the lower right part of the doodle sends the user to a Search Results page for "Mothers' Day."

 

Mother's Day honors mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. In the Philippines, it is marked on the second Sunday of May.

 

The occasion started in the United States in the early 20th century when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in the US in 1908.

 

Jarvis started a campaign to make Mother's Day a holiday in the United States.  — ELR, GMA News
