Chrome for iOS gets better voice search, recognition

Improved voice search and voice recognition are in store for users of updated Google's Chrome browser for the iPhone and iPad.

The Chrome team suggested version 27.0.1453.10 of the browser for devices running Apple's iOS operating system could give Siri a run for its money.

"Say what you want and get results back without typing ... Get answers spoken back to you with web results tailored to your questions," Google's Jason Kersey said in a blog post.

Kersey also said the new Chrome offers faster page reloading "even when the network is slow or unavailable."

A separate article on The Next Web said speaking searches on Chrome's omnibox appears to be the biggest addition to the latest issue of Chrome.

"Just tap the microphone, say your search query aloud, and see your results (some will even be spoken back to you), all without typing a single character," it said.

Also, it said the latest Chrome app for iOS also reloads Web pages faster by "using the cache more efficiently when the network is slow." — TJD, GMA News
