Feeling playful? Smart underwear coming soon

This wearable technology may give new meaning to the term "smart underwear."

OhMiBod, a company making connected sex toys, said it is making panties that can be controlled by a partner's smartphone, tech site Mashable reported.

Vibrations can be controlled via an iOS or Android app, Mashable quoted the company as saying.

The report said the vibrator contains a Bluetooth chip and a motor responds to the remote app controls.

But the drawback for now is that the app has to be within Bluetooth range to sync with the panties in real time.

Brian Dunham, who with his wife Suki founded OhMiBod, told Mashable this is "a really fun way to control vibrations without anyone knowing what you're doing because the remote is on your phone."

"Technology can drive couples apart, but this is using technology and gadgets to bring them closer together," he added.

Aside from the smart underwear, the company also makes other sex toys such as vibrators that align to one's favorite music, Mashable said.

Mashable quoted Dunham as saying he and Suki thought of the smart underwear after finding they were spending too much time with their smartphones instead of being intimate.

Improvements and features

Dunham said they are now working to bring long distance to the app now and "should have that up and running by the summer."

Also, the device can record ambient sound up to 60 seconds, allowing a partner to record songs or say phrases to create a unique vibrating pattern.

"The recording function gives you a lot of room for creativity. It makes the whole experience completely customizable too," Dunham said.

The product is due to arrive in stores in March. It is "one size fits all," Mashable said. — VC, GMA News
