Kazuhisa Hashimoto, inventor of 'Konami Code' used in games, has passed away

Shortly after the 'cut-copy-paste' inventor passed away, another important computer scientist has died.

Kazuhisa Hashimoto, the man who introduced "Konami  Code" passed away at age 61.

Konami announced the sad news on their Twitter account with a statement on Thursday.

"We are saddened to hear about the passing of Kazuhisa Hashimoto, a deeply talented producer who first introduced the world to the "Konami Code". Our thoughts are with Hashimoto-san's family and friends at this time. Rest In Peace," the statement read.

Hashimoto is known for producing the ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A  (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a and start) codes used in several video games.

His death was first confirmed by Yuji Takenouchi, a composer working on Konami games.

According to a report on The Verge, the Konami Code first appeared in 1986 for the NES arcade game Gradius, giving players access to a number of power-ups.

Hashimoto created the cheat code in 1985 when he found the game too difficult to play during its development stage, reports say. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
