Manila, 26 other Luzon areas under storm warning as Santi nears PHL


Three areas were placed under Storm Signal No. 2 while Metro Manila and 23 other areas were placed under Signal No. 1 Thursday night as Tropical Storm Santi (Nari) intensified further, state weather forecasters said.
 
PAGASA said Santi was estimated at 410 km east of Baler, Aurora as of 10 p.m., with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.
 
In its 11 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said Santi is forecast to move west at 15 kph, and be 80 km east of Baler, Aurora Friday evening.
 
By Saturday evening, it is expected to be 200 km west of Dagupan City. By Sunday evening, it is expected to be 610 km west of Baguio City.

Rainfall
 
PAGASA said Santi may bring rainfall of 5.0 to 20.0 mm per hour (moderate to intense) within its 500-km diameter.
 
It warned residents in low-lying and mountainous areas under storm signals to be alert against possible flash floods and landslides.
 
Also, it said those living in coastal areas under Signal No. 2 should be alert against storm surges.
