Typhoon Urduja to leave PAR Wednesday night

State weather forecasters expect Urduja to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Wednesday night, and weaken as it does so.

Urduja will still have no direct effect on the Philippines but will still enhance the Amihan northeast monsoon, potentially causing strong to gale-force winds in northern and eastern Luzon seaboards.

PAGASA advised fishermen using small sea craft not to go out to sea as waves could reach five meters high along the seaboards of northern Luzon, as well as eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.

As of 4:00 PM today, Typhoon Urduja was located 880 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, according to PAGASA's 5:00 PM weather forcast.

Urduja is still weakening, with winds of 140 kph and gustiness of up to 170 kph, and is forcast to move west-northweast at 15 kph toward southern Japan.

Amihan is expected to bring scattered, light rain in northern Luzon. According to data from GMA's Weather Central, Luzon's slightly cloudy skies might bring a thunderstorm. — Kim Luces/TJD, GMA News
