Habagat still brings rain to Luzon after Ompong’s exit

State weather bureau PAGASA on Sunday said that the Southwest Monsoon will continue to affect provinces in Luzon even after the exit of Typhoon Ompong.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Zambales and Pangasinan will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorm which may cause flashfloods and landslides.

PAGASA added that Metro Manila and the rest of the country will encounter localized thunderstorms which may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

The weather agency earlier said that Ompong (international name: Mangkhut) no longer has any direct threat to the country as it moves closer to southern China.

As of 3 p.m., Ompong was spotted at 935 kilometers northwest of extreme northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 180 kilometers per hour.
