Tomas weakens into an LPA; drizzles expected over northern Luzon

The former Tropical Cyclone Tomas (international name Man-yi) weakened into low-pressure area which was 1,060 kilometers east of the Batanes' Basco town, weather service PAGASA reported in a Tuesday morning forecast.

Meanwhile, the Ilocos, Cordillera Administrative, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon Regions would be under the influence of the northeast monsoon, and could thus expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied with isolated light rain.

The rest of the country would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers.

Winds would be strong to gale force from the northeast to east over extreme northern Luzon, where coastal waters would be rough to very rough.

Over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon, wind would be moderate to strong from the northeast with moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions.

Finally, winds over the Visayas, Mindanao, and the rest of Luzon would be light to moderate from the northeast with slight to moderate coastal waters. — DVM, GMA News
