‘Amihan,’ cold front to bring rains to Luzon

Rainy weather can be expected as three weather systems have been affecting the country on Thursday, GMA News resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz reported on "24 Oras."

According to weather bureau PAGASA, easterlies have been affecting the eastern part of Visayas while the northeast monsoon or "amihan" has been bringing cold and rainy weather to Luzon.

The tail-end of a cold front is also expected to bring heavy rains to Southern Luzon.

PAGASA warned of possible landslides and flashfloods in affected areas, particularly in Aurora, Calabarzon and the Bicol region.

The weather bureau said wave heights over the coasts of Batanes, the Babuyan group of islands, Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Polillo island, Quezon, Bicol region, as well as Northern and Eastern Samar could reach 2.8 to 4.5 meters. —Margaret Claire Layug/ LDF, GMA News
