NAMED WUTIP

Cyclone outside PAR turns into tropical storm, will be near PAR by weekend

A weather disturbance in the Pacific Ocean has become a tropical storm, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency and the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center.

The tropical storm has an international name of Wutip, according to a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Wednesday.

Wutip was last located southeast of Guam.

According to the wind map of Metraweather, there is a chance Wutip will become stronger in the next few days.

However it is still too far to have an effect on the country.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (amihan) has slightly weakened.

PAGASA said amihan is prevailing over Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.

Data from Metraweather showed that fair weather will be experienced in a greater part of Luzon, except for Quezon and Oriental Mindoro which will have moderate rains.

In Metro Manila, there is a low chance of rain.

Almost the entire Visayas and Mindanao will also have fair weather, except for Leyte, Surigao provinces and Davao Oriental, which will have rains. —KG, GMA News
