Marilyn lingers to the east of the Batanes


Tropical Depression Marilyn was near stationary 1,045 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes Friday afternoon, weather service PAGASA reported in a 4 p.m. forecast.

Marilyn had 55 kilometers per hour winds and gusts of up to 70 kph.

Meanwhile, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Soccsksargen, and Northern Mindanao Regions, as well as Metro Manila and the whole of the Visayas, could expect cloudy conditions accompanied with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

The rest of the country would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Winds would be moderate to strong from the southwest over Central and Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, where coastal waters would be moderate to rough.

Over northern Luzon, winds would be moderate to strong from the northeast to northwest with moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions. — DVM, GMA News
