Marilyn to bring rainy weekend over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol region, Visayas

Starting Friday night until late Saturday, light to moderate rains with at times heavy rain showers during thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, Aurora, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The rains are brought about by tropical depression Marilyn, which maintained its strength as it moves northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Despite this, Marilyn is not expected to make a landfall in the country.

As of 10 p.m. Friday, the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 1,130 km East of Basco, Batanes (20.3 °N, 132.8 °E ).  It is moving north northeast at 10 kilometers per hour.

It has a maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Sea travel is risky, especially for small seacrafts, over the western seaboard of Southern Luzon and the seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao due to potentially rough sea condition, PAGASA said. —LDF, GMA News
