Marilyn exits PAR, weakens into LPA

Tropical Depression Marilyn weakened into a Low Pressure Area on Saturday night as it exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, according to the latest PAGASA advisory.

Marilyn, which did not make landfall, exited PAR at 8 p.m., PAGASA said in its 11 p.m. advisory.

Despite this, PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon will bring occasional to frequent light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Sulu Archipelago, Palawan and Mindoro provinces between Saturday and Sunday.

"Scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rain showers due to thunderstorms will be experienced over Bicol Region, CALABARZON, and the rest of MIMAROPA and Visayas," it added.

The weather bureau urged residents of the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to floods and rain-induced landslides, "to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates."

Sea travel, PAGASA also said, remains risky, especially for small seacrafts, over the western seaboard of Southern Luzon, the seaboards of Visayas and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao due to potentially rough sea condition. --KBK, GMA News
