‘Pillars of light’ appear anew, this time in Daanbantayan, Cebu

Ephemeral pillars of light were spotted yet again this year at Sitio Bragat, Daanbantayan, Cebu on Wednesday night.

In a Facebook post, netizen John Reco Estrera described them as 'strange lights that were shaped like white and green candles'.

Estrera claimed that the photos he took were real, and they were not edited.

According to PAGASA, these pillars of light are an atmospheric phenomena caused by moonlight or sunlight that is refracted by the ice crystals in the night sky.

Raymundo said that these ice crystals which reflect light were formed in high clouds like cirrus-stratus or cirrus clouds.
